Best Pictures of 2004 from the Washington Post

I found these pictures to be very powerful. As I was looking at these photos, I realized that 2004 was a really crazy year. A year full of emotion, with the war(s), elections, the olympics, Lance's 5th win, finding Saddam, not finding Osama, and for us having a baby. So much. I think 2005 will have to be a year of balance.

Boy this has really turned into a downer site.

I promise, happy stuff is coming soon.

The ghost of the Little Tavern

Little Tavern

I just found this site. The writer has captured what is left of the resturant chain my grandfather helped start. Now most of these regional icons of Maryland, DC and Virgina are gone. My grandfather and his business partner sold them a ways back and well, it's kind of cool to see some of it still around.

Are you missing your crack pipe?

This years Christmas...

is different for me than any other Christmas so far. Mainly because of Finn. The day Finn was born I said "I'll never need another birthday or Christmas gift. Ever. This little guy is IT!" I guess what I meant was that Finn is the MAN! And it's weird becasue this is the first Christmas when I wasn't hoping for this or that and I didn't even have one item on my wishlist. Well maybe a pair of shoes and a new pair of pants, but those are like things for work so I don't go around looking like a slob. I'm no metrosexual, but I like to look decent. Anyway, having a kid who is as good and happy as Finn just solidifies life. I couldn't give a crap about what kind of cool gadgets I'm missing out on this year. And let me tell you that is saying a lot.

Best Links of 2004

Jason @ Kottke has a great compilation of links from 2004. Two insightful articles are "Victoria's Secret" a story about a tell-it-like-it-is, ultra high-end saleswoman, and "Big and Bad" an article about the SUV phenom.
